Collections Specialist

Location: Carmel, IN (Onsite)

Our client, a leading healthcare organization, is seeking a Collections Specialist to join their team in Carmel, Indiana. This is a fully onsite position where you will play a key role in managing patient accounts and following up to ensure timely collection of outstanding healthcare payments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain a portfolio of patient accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of records.

  • Contact patients via phone, email, or mail to follow up on outstanding balances.

  • Provide exceptional customer service while discussing payment arrangements and resolving billing inquiries.

  • Document all collection activity and communication in the system.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to address billing discrepancies or account issues.

  • Adhere to HIPAA and all applicable laws and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • 1–2+ years of experience in collections, preferably in a healthcare or medical billing environment.

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with a professional and empathetic approach.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with billing software.

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in accounting, finance, or healthcare administration is a plus.
