Collections Specialist
Location: Carmel, IN (Onsite)
Our client, a leading healthcare organization, is seeking a Collections Specialist to join their team in Carmel, Indiana. This is a fully onsite position where you will play a key role in managing patient accounts and following up to ensure timely collection of outstanding healthcare payments.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain a portfolio of patient accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of records.
Contact patients via phone, email, or mail to follow up on outstanding balances.
Provide exceptional customer service while discussing payment arrangements and resolving billing inquiries.
Document all collection activity and communication in the system.
Collaborate with internal teams to address billing discrepancies or account issues.
Adhere to HIPAA and all applicable laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
1–2+ years of experience in collections, preferably in a healthcare or medical billing environment.
Strong communication and negotiation skills with a professional and empathetic approach.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with billing software.
High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in accounting, finance, or healthcare administration is a plus.
