Medical Assistant (MA)

Location: Greater Indianapolis, IN

Nmble Medical is partnering with a multi-site outpatient surgeon’s office in Greater Indianapolis area to add a compassionate, detail-oriented Medical Assistant. You’ll be the clinical and customer-service backbone of a fast-paced clinic—rooming patients, supporting in-office procedures, and keeping the day running smoothly for providers and patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet/room patients; verify history, medications, allergies; record vitals and pain scores

  • Prep exam rooms and surgical trays; maintain sterile field; assist during minor in-office procedures (e.g., lesion excisions, aspirations, injections)

  • Perform wound care, dressing changes, suture/staple removal per protocol

  • Administer injections and immunizations per provider order; perform venipuncture and specimen collection/processing

  • Conduct EKGs, point-of-care tests; document results in the EHR

  • Provide pre-/post-op and discharge education; coordinate imaging and lab orders

  • Manage inbound calls, portal messages, prescription refills, and provider messages under supervision

  • Schedule clinic/procedure visits; coordinate referrals, authorizations, and insurance verification

  • Maintain inventory and order clinical supplies; ensure exam/procedure rooms are fully stocked

  • Document accurately and timely in the EHR (Epic/eClinicalWorks/NextGen or similar)

  • Follow infection control standards (including instrument cleaning/sterilization and autoclave logs)

  • Uphold HIPAA, OSHA, and clinic policies; participate in huddles and quality initiatives

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED (required)

  • Current MA certification (CMA/AAMA, RMA/AMT, CCMA/NHA, or NCMA/NCCT) preferred; non-certified MAs with strong experience considered

  • BLS/CPR certification (required or obtained prior to start)

  • 1+ year recent ambulatory experience (surgery, ortho, plastics, general surgery, or specialty clinic a plus)

  • Proficiency with an EHR; comfortable with common MA skills (injections, phlebotomy, wound care, sterilization)

  • Clear, professional communication with patients and care teams; excellent organization and follow-through

  • Ability to stand/walk for prolonged periods and occasionally lift up to 25–40 lbs

  • Prior authorization and referral coordination experience (Preferable, but not required)

  • Fluent in Spanish language (Preferable, but not required)

  • Experience in high-volume specialty or procedural clinics
