Patient Access Coordinator

We are currently seeking a Patient Access Coordinator to support one of our major healthcare partners in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The Patient Access Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring a seamless patient experience from the moment care begins. This position serves as the first point of contact for patients and is responsible for coordinating scheduling, verifying insurance information, and supporting front-end patient access processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service

  • Schedule patient appointments and coordinate care across departments

  • Verify insurance eligibility and obtain necessary authorizations

  • Collect and update patient demographic and insurance information

  • Communicate appointment details and instructions to patients

  • Ensure accurate documentation within electronic health record systems

  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to support efficient patient flow

  • Address patient questions and assist with registration and check-in processes

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred

  • 1–3 years of experience in patient access, medical reception, healthcare administration, or scheduling

  • Experience working with electronic health record (EHR) systems preferred

  • Knowledge of insurance verification and healthcare registration processes

  • Strong communication and customer service skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in hospital or large healthcare system environments

  • Familiarity with medical terminology

  • Prior patient registration or front-desk healthcare experience
