Medical Assistant
Location: Ft. Wayne, IN (Full-time)
Nmble Medical is seeking a Medical Assistant in the Fort Wayne, IN area to support neurosurgical patient care by assisting with clinical procedures, managing pre- and post-operative workflows, preparing exam rooms, coordinating patient intake, and completing specialty-specific administrative tasks under provider supervision.
Responsibilities
Prepare patients for neurosurgery consultations; obtain vitals, histories, and neurological symptom details.
Assist providers with non-invasive procedures, wound care, suture/staple removal, dressing changes, and pre-op/post-op exams.
Prepare and maintain exam rooms before visits and procedures, ensuring surgical-specialty equipment is stocked and functional.
Perform patient intake, phone triage, documentation, and relay test results as directed.
Coordinate surgical orders, referrals, imaging, and specialty scheduling.
Support administrative workflows including pre-registration, insurance verification, and managing clinic communications.
Maintain daily logs, documentation accuracy, and compliance with infection-control standards.
Educate patients on pre-operative preparation, post-operative care instructions, medications, and general health information.
Manage supply inventory appropriate for surgery needs.
Maintain reliable attendance and comply with all organizational policies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Completion of a Medical Assistant program from an accredited school preferred.
0β1 year of experience in a medical practice or completion of an externship required; experience in neurology or surgical settings preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of medical office procedures and patient care techniques, preferably within surgical or neurology settings.
Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, EHR systems).
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to provide excellent service to patients and staff.
Understanding of medical terminology, neurology-related terms, and infection-control practices.
Strong organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills.
Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced specialty environment.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information.
Licenses & Certifications
BCLS (Basic Life Support) from AHA, ARC, or ASHI required.
